Fairfield County Stand Down 23 MAY 2018

Lutheran Social Services and Fairfield County Veterans Service Commission hosted a stand down for veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.  Shown here is just one of the many veterans helped during this event.  Photo used with permission.  Several MVO members generously give of their time for this event every year.

Spring Raffle Drawing 21 MAY 2018

Former Commander George Speakman, JR. draws the winning ticket for the Afghan Flag. It was won by Sheila Kassouf.  She was notified immediately after the meeting.

Honor Flight #88  19 MAY 2018

Two or our members were selected to go on Honor Flight #88.  Shown here, on the plane, are Bob Ortman (our secretary) and Bob Oiler (our commander).  This is an amazing experience as Honor Flight takes veterans to Washington D.C. to see the War Memorials at no cost to them.

The Military Veterans of Olivedale proudly participate in three patriotic parades each year.  The annual Lancaster Memorial Day parade was on the morning of 28 MAY this year.  A ceremony was held at Forest Rose Cemetery after the parade.

The Military Veterans Of Olivedale provides support, in the form of monetary and voluntary help, to community veterans groups assisting homeless and otherwise distressed veterans. It also promotes social contact and provides activities among former members of the United States military who are members of the Olivedale Senior Center.

Military Veterans of Olivedale is a 501(c)(3) Charity.
